Pile of parts • Jul 28, 2010

This came out of some earlier work I’d done with overlapping elements and fragments. I made a bunch of random objects without really thinking about where they’d go, and then I put them together. I’m pretty happy with the style so far. We’ll see where this goes.

Thought for the day: I'd like to be under the sea, in an octopus's garden in the shade.

This is what Dr. Frankenstein said too.

Yes, “we’ll see where this goes” definitely has an ominous ring to it in certain contexts.

I love this! It reminds me of work by an artist who makes angels and things from recycled metal parts. Yours is very different feel though – might be the “angel of testosterone.” Ha. A couple examples of the other one:

I’m absolutely going to do something called The Angel of Testosterone one of these days – that title is too startling to pass up.
Those angels are great. I’ve always liked art from found objects. They sort of remind me of Tony Price’s work – he built masks and Native American-style art from equipment that the Los Alamos National Laboratory was getting rid of in the late 60s.
Have your say
